The Russian Ministry of Energy proposes to create a register of equipment for cryptocurrency mining in order to optimize the mechanisms for identifying the mining of digital assets.
With the help of these measures, the department wants to increase the effectiveness of bans on the mining of digital cryptocurrencies in those regions and areas where this type of activity is prohibited.
According to Deputy Minister of Energy Yevgeny Grabchak, who is the author of the idea to create an equipment register, it is necessary to adapt existing regulations to the current situation on the market.
During a working meeting devoted to regulating mining in Russia, the official drew the attention of those present to the need to formulate clear criteria for classifying activities specifically as cryptocurrency mining.
In this regard, Grabchak believes that without a registry of mining equipment, there can be no talk of any effective control over miners.
The Ministry of Energy stated that the fundamental task is to optimize the mechanisms for identifying mining activities and more strictly enforce prohibitions on it in those regions where it is not permitted.
At the same time, the department noted that in regions where mining is permitted, its development will help the growth of the local economy, including through the introduction of new technological solutions and technologies.
