Ubisoft + blockchain = Might&Magic goes crypto
There will be a Might&Magic crypto card game. Ubisoft, the same crew behind Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, all those blockbusters just made another move that’s got the whole gaming world talking.
They’re teaming up with Immutable, the blockchain whiz kids, to drag the legendary Might&Magic franchise onto Ethereum .
The result? Might&Magic : Fates, a free-to-play strategy card game, dropping on iOS and Android later this year.
Legendary
Now, you might be thinking, what’s the big deal? Another card game?
But this ain’t your grandma’s deck of playing cards, no, we’re talking hundreds of digital cards, heroes, monsters, all the classics, except now, you can actually own them.
Forrás: XNot like, oh, I unlocked this in-game. I mean, own them, trade them, maybe even sell them for real money, thanks to blockchain and NFTs.
Ubisoft’s Nicolas Pouard, the guy steering their innovation ship, says this game’s about honoring the rich legacy of Might&Magic.
He promises a deep, rewarding experience for both old fans and fresh faces. Sounds nice, right?
But let’s not kid ourselves, this is also about Ubisoft planting their flag in the Web3 world, trying to be the Don Corleone of blockchain gaming. As they should be, right?
Upgrade
But the blockchain gaming sector? It’s been on a bit of a losing streak lately. First quarter of 2025, things went a little soft, not gonna lie.
But a partnership like this, big publisher, slick blockchain tech, could be the jolt the industry needs.
Immutable’s pulling out all the stops, folding their old network into the shiny new zkEVM, promising faster, bigger, better for everyone.
But let’s not forget, Ubisoft’s got a history here. They’ve been dabbling in crypto, NFTs, and all that jazz for years. Sometimes it’s a hit, sometimes it’s a headline nobody wants.
Remember those Rabbids NFTs? Or the Ghost Recon Breakpoint experiment? Yeah, not exactly smooth sailing.
And don’t even get me started on the play-to-earn dream, where you grind for hours and maybe, just maybe, cash out for a cup of coffee.
Dragonfire
Still, if they pull this off, Might&Magic: Fates could be the poster child for how to blend AAA gaming with blockchain.
Or it could be another overhyped tech play, more sizzle than steak. Either way, Ubisoft’s betting big, and they want you in the game.
So, are you ready to collect, trade, and maybe, just maybe strike it rich with a digital dragon? Or are you just here for the magic?
Either way, the cards are on the table, and Ubisoft’s dealing. Let’s see who walks away with the loot.
Have you read it yet? Bitcoin’s back, baby, but is this the real deal or just another tease?
