Data: In the first quarter of 2025, the US AI sector raised nearly $20 billion, far ahead of the crypto industry's $861 million
according to CoinDesk, that despite the benefit of cryptocurrencies due to the "Trump effect" at the end of 2024, the first quarter of 2025 saw a significant lead in financing in the U.S. AI sector compared to the cryptocurrency industry.
According to Pitchbook data, the U.S. cryptocurrency venture capital in the first three months of 2025 was about $861 million, while the AI sector attracted nearly $20 billion in investment.
The AI sector completed a total of 795 transactions, including large financings such as $15.3 billion for Databricks and $2 billion for Anthropic. Historical data shows that venture capitalists have always preferred AI over cryptocurrencies, with AI financing growing from $670 million in 2011 to $36 billion in 2020. Only in 2021 did cryptocurrency financing briefly surpass AI, but AI financing quickly regained the lead, surpassing $100 billion by 2024.
