For many decades now, web2 gaming as a whole has brought us countless immersive experiences. However, it often lacks true ownership and control for players. In contrast, Web3 gaming uses blockchain technology to enhance player ownership but often lacks immersive gameplay.

Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, saw this basic need for a change in web2 gaming. His experience with World of Warcraft—where developers nerfed his favorite class, leaving him devastated—inspired him to create a decentralized world where users have more control. This intertwines the origins of Ethereum with gaming, showing how deeply connected Web3 and gaming are.

Beramonium aims to follow in the footsteps of sensei Vitalik to make Web3 gaming accessible to everyone, regardless of their blockchain experience. The game prioritizes player choice and accessibility, integrating the latest advancements in GameFi and crypto, while remembering the immersive and fun gaming experiences.

Beramonium was originally envisioned as a single-player RPG with Diablo-style dungeons and mintable items. However, the team quickly identified a major challenge with this approach: a single-player game offering financial incentives risks issues with hacking unless extensive MMO-level infrastructure is in place, which is costly and complicated for a startup.

To address this, Beramonium pivoted to Gemhunters, played in an idle RPG format. This allows Beramonium to keep the gameplay synced with its database, making cheating the game virtually impossible.

1. Market Overview

Let’s go back in time to understand how and when we came to where we stand today. Web2 Gaming came into formation in 1958, with the first being a tennis game. In 1972, the first video console was launched, the Magnavox Odyssey. Mario Kart then followed suit in 1985 subsequently followed by Pokémon in 1996, which has generated over US$110bn in revenue since inception.

Then, around 2009, mobile gaming started becoming popular with titles like Angry Birds and Farmville attracting massive playerbases.

Fast forward to today, gaming revenues are soaring, with more than three billion gamers globally generating $200b in annual revenue, which is set to grow 15-25% YoY.

Recently, another generation of games is generating a lot of attention - games that allow you to play and earn an income simultaneously. The so-called play-to-earn is basically the crux of Web3 gaming in its current form.

Web3 games have a broadly similar architecture and gameplay mechanics to 'traditional' Web2 games. The key difference is the integration of tech that provides them with a robust, safe, and innovative infrastructure to leverage, aka blockchain.

As more players, developers, and investors enter GameFi, the ecosystem becomes increasingly rich and innovative. Additionally, many Web3 games incorporate DeFi elements, enabling players to participate in complex in-game economies, stake tokens, and earn rewards, enhancing engagement and long-term player retention.

According to Antler, the Total Addressable market (TAM) for Blockchain Gaming by 2030 is estimated to be $200 billion, with the majority of players coming from Asian countries like South Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Making this a wide-open field for the expansion of new and innovative startups like Beramonium.

By tapping into this growing market, Beramonium aims to drive crypto adoption with its free-to-play model, optional play-to-earn features, and immersive gameplay.

As things stand, Beramonium Chronicles is making its mark in the GameFi world as the first and biggest idle-RPG on Berachain. Since December 2022, it has grown strong within the Berachain community, successfully minting its Genesis NFT collection and raising 265 ETH. With the launch of Gemhunters in March 2024, the game quickly gained traction, boasting 300 active players daily in just two weeks.

Why Berachain?

In an open landscape of many gaming chains like Avax, Ronin XAI, the team chose Bera because of the unique opportunity it offers. Berachain’s Proof-of-Liquidity consensus mechanism opens up new ways for games to generate rewards for players. In turn, new and experimental tokenomics can drive another Play and Earn adoption wave. Beramonium’s presence as the primary idle RPG game on this blockchain positions it as a pioneer and allows it to capitalize on untapped P2E mechanics in GameFi.

Why Idle RPG?

RPGs make the most revenue in the global gaming market. In 2023 alone, RPGs emerged as the most dominant category, contributing significantly to revenue with a substantial 25.1% share. Following closely were strategy games at 20.1%, puzzles at 12.9%, and casinos at 11.8%, based on the combined App Store and Play Store data.

What’s particularly intriguing is the proportion of RPGs in mobile game revenue within the Korean market. In Korea, 57.5% of mobile game revenue was attributed to RPGs, significantly outpacing Japan’s 47.8%, China’s iOS market at 27%, and the United States’ at 11.3%. This highlights the immense popularity of RPGs in South Korea, making it a key player in the global gaming landscape.

An “Idle RPG” is a distinct subgenre of role-playing games (RPGs) characterized by passive or automatic gameplay design. In an idle RPG, player interaction is intentionally minimized and, in some instances, not necessary at all. Instead, the game unfolds autonomously, with the player’s primary role typically revolving around initial setup, strategic decision-making, and occasional interaction with the game’s mechanics.

Idle RPGs are popular on mobile devices, primarily attracting players seeking a more relaxed gaming experience or those who appreciate the ability to advance within the game without constant active participation. These games often give off a casual and smoothing atmosphere while retaining captivating elements related to character development and strategic decision-making.

Considering all the above data, choosing an idle RPG format for Beramonium offers several benefits. Idle games have a proven track record of engaging players over long periods without requiring constant, intense interaction, making them ideal for the Web3 world. By doing this, earning rewards can be automated through periodic gameplay. Players who enjoy incremental progress find idle RPGs appealing, and they can benefit from the play-to-earn mechanics embedded in Beramonium’s Gemhunters, making the game accessible for both casual and dedicated gamers.

The popularity of idle mechanics is evident in other games like Chikn on Avalanche, which combines idle and active gameplay, and CryptoBlades, which utilizes NFT assets on Avalanche to enhance idle RPG elements. These examples underscore the potential of the idle RPG format in blockchain environments.

Beramonium isn't alone in the Berachains GameFi space. Other projects within the Berachain ecosystem, like The Honey Jar, the most significant community-focused project, Yeet, a DEFI-focused game, and Beratone, a farming and crafting MMO, showcase the diverse approach to integrating gaming with Web3 elements. Outside of Berachain, platforms like Avalanche and Arbitrum foster vibrant GameFi ecosystems. For instance, DeFi Kingdoms and The Legend of Aurum Draconis on Avalanche are combining RPG elements with DeFi, showcasing the successful blend of traditional gaming with decentralized finance.

2. Beramonium Gemhunters

Beramonium Chronicles is building a gaming ecosystem on Berachain. The first release is called Gemhunters.

Gemhunters is an idle RPG where players send their Beramonium Genesis Beras on missions to acquire equipment and gems. Players can exchange Gems for NFTs from other Berachain collections and, in the future, for ecosystem tokens (such as $KDK, $RAMEN, $YEET etc.) thanks to a clever use of Proof of Liquidity. By playing Gemhunters, players will learn about other projects and their assets, making Beramonium a gateway to the vast Berachain ecosystem.

In the game, Beramonium Genesis NFTs act as character cards, and the gems acquired can be used to upgrade these NFTs. All of the armor and weapon pieces are represented as NFT traits, meaning that players can obtain and equip various upgrades, offering a heightened sense of in-game progression and power. This approach maintains a fluid experience where the NFT’s value and utility evolve in alignment with gameplay achievements, reinforcing the bond between gameplay and digital asset ownership.

For instance, if a player’s Bera Warrior starts with a basic sword but is later equipped with a Legendary Axe, the NFT will visually display the Axe and update the “Weapon” trait to reflect this enhancement. This transformation enhances the NFT’s power within the game and increases its market value, as NFTs with rare gear like epic or legendary items often command premium prices above the floor value. This approach ensures players retain the in-game value they’ve earned, effectively bridging gameplay achievements with the broader NFT market ecosystem.

Gems are an off-chain currency used to purchase various rewards (like the Berachain ecosystem NFTs and coins) and to progress through the missions. They are designed as an off-chain component to ensure that Gemhunters doesn’t depend on favorable market conditions to thrive and that the game's popularity isn’t negatively affected by the tokens' price action.

Key Characteristics:

Play-and-Earn Mechanics

Beramonium blends gaming with Web3 by letting you turn your in-game achievements, like rare items and equipment, into NFTs. These NFTs can be traded, sold, or kept as valuable digital assets, giving your game progress real-world value.

Immersive Blockchain Experience

The game uses limited Web3 aspects to create a clear and secure space for players while ensuring there is a limited exposure to it to avoid any disturbance in the overall gaming experience. This means that the rewards you earn in the game truly belong to you, and you have full control over your in-game assets while the gameplay remains fun and immersive.

3. Gemhunter Mechanics

The game’s architecture is designed with flexibility in mind. If you’re here for a classic RPG experience, it’s all set up for that.

The game offers a mix of character classes that keep things interesting. You can choose to be a spell-slinging Mage, a heavy-hitting Warrior, or a sneaky Hunter. Each class has its own strengths, encouraging you to experiment with strategies and play the game the way that suits you best.

Beramonium is built to be accessible, whether you’re a veteran gamer or someone new to the world of RPGs and blockchain. It’s all about keeping things open and engaging, no matter your level of experience.

Beramonium brings together classic RPG fun and cutting-edge tech in a way that feels fresh and exciting. It’s about having an adventure while also offering the chance to turn in-game achievements into something meaningful outside the game.

4. Beramonium The Alpha

Beramonium is one of the top names (if not ‘the top’) in the Berachain gaming world by virtue of mixing classic RPG fun with monetary elements of NFTs and the novel use of Proof of Liquidity to power the P2E elements of the game. Its first and flagship game, Beramonium Chronicles: Gemhunters, is an Idle RPG—a type of game that’s very popular in the Asia-Pacific region, as we discussed earlier, giving it a strong start with a familiar style to any potential gamer.

It allows players to retain the long-term value generated within the game by “saving” the progress in the form of the Character Card NFT. Take this as an example: if you play with a set character in the game and spend time, energy and money on it to make it custom-built according to your needs, you’d want to keep those features intact and ensure that only you can change them or even use them in other games and worlds.

In the “traditional” games it’s unfortunately not possible, but by adding blockchain elements, Beramonium ensures that players retain control and true ownership of their in-game assets.

Beramonium introduces $BERAMO, its native currency (which is not farmable in the game, unlike the off-chain Gems). The token is used to leverage Proof of Liquidity and generate additional P2E rewards for players as well as to power the in-game store purchases like Cosmetics or Boosts known from traditional web2 games.

The governance of $BERAMO allows players to have a say in which assets are added to the seasonal Rewards Pools, effectively allowing them to shape P2E aspects of the game. While a full DAO is possible in the future, the team focuses on efficient decision-making for now. This focus on player choice, combined with a constant focus on development of the game and improving the user experience, makes Beramonium a strong player in Web3 gaming and people’s choice for entertainment.

A Unique Spot in the Gaming World

Beramonium blends the fun and depth of traditional RPGs with Web3. It’s a game that values the player's vested time, offering something new and exciting. The balance between familiar RPG storytelling and NFTs, positions it uniquely in the gaming landscape, appealing to both casual gamers and Web3 communities. As the only live game on Berachain with great graphics and engaging gameplay, Beramonium will be the ideal candidate in Berachain ecosystem to be a category leader in the gaming space for the time being.

5. Industry Rivals

The industry landscape is packed with competitors, but Beramonium sees this as an opportunity to stand out. It shares the space with major projects like Gamer Arena on Avalanche and Delysium on Polygon. These platforms boast market valuations of $74 million and $246 million, respectively based on April 2024 valuations.

Even industry giants like Illuvium and Axie Infinity are in the mix. However, Beramonium’s distinct approach—blending rich RPG storytelling with NFTs and in game trading economics—positions it to make a mark in the rapidly expanding global gaming market.

6. Partners and backers

Backers

On January 30, 2025, a private fundraising round was closed. In this round, 6.9% of $Beramo was sold, with participation from Dewhales Capital, Smape Capital, and NxGen. Also, there were several angel investors, including:

Partners

Over the years, Beramonium has built solid partnerships across the Berachain ecosystem, teaming up with well-established projects to enhance the player experience. As one of the earliest projects on Berachain, they’ve formed connections with some of the most respected names in the community, adding depth and value to the game.

  • Ramen Finance: Berachain premier launchpad launching $BERAMO.

  • Yeet: Beramoniums close collaborators and friends as they co-host the Year of the Bera spaces,co-sponsored of the Gemhunters Testnet Season, and Yeet NFTs are included in the Season 2 Rewards Pool.

  • Kodiak: decentralized exchange (DEX) of choice, ensuring smooth, reliable transactions.

  • Magna: Provider of the token vesting solution.

  • The Honey Jar (THJ): THJs silver partner, with HoneyCombs included as in-game rewards.

  • Beradrome: partnered through a liquidity-boosting “Real Deal”, with Beradrome NFTs featured as in-game rewards.

  • Beratone: Beratone NFTs are included in the rewards pools, both protocols nourish good relations as the two major gaming projects on Berachain.

  • The Honey Cast: Featured Beramonium in two episodes; THC NFTs are also included in the rewards pools.

Beramonium rewards pool include NFTs from many Berachain collections like: Berautistics, Bera Punks, Beraborrow, BeraBoyz, CubHub, Wagmipad, Narra, Roots, Berahorses, and many more, providing players with a way to check out a broad Berachain ecosystem, while making the gameplay even more exciting.

Through these collaborations, Beramonium’s partnerships across Berachain bring added layers of rewards and community value, ensuring that the players benefit from the best the ecosystem has to offer.

7. Tokenomics

Beramonium’s robust Treasury of Bera-ecosystem NFTs entails a unique and sustainable rewards model designed to enrich player engagement and promote ecosystem-wide exploration. By utilizing its Protocol-Owned Liquidity, Beramonium effectively channels BGT incentives from various Bera tokens, such as, for example, $IRED, $RAMEN, and $YEET, creating a diverse incentive structure that enhances the player experience. These tokens, restructured into reward packages available in the Gem Store, allow players to unlock tangible value within the game while familiarizing themselves with other projects across the Bera ecosystem.

The “OG” status of Beramonium plays a critical role in this model, leveraging longstanding partnerships to integrate external project NFTs into its seasonal Rewards Pools.

The $BERAMO token is at the heart of Beramonium’s economy, designed to be both sustainable and community-focused:

Deflationary Model

To keep $BERAMO valuable over time, 75% of all in-game revenue is burned. This reduces the total supply, making each token rarer and potentially more valuable. It’s a system that benefits both players and investors.

Player Governance

$BERAMO isn’t just a currency—it’s a way for players to have a say in the game’s future. Token holders will be able to vote on prize pools and will have more say in various aspects of the ecosystem in the future.

Integration with Berachain

The $BERAMO token is deeply connected to Berachain’s ecosystem, integrating with its Proof of Liquidity (PoL) and DeFi features, making it a key asset both in the game and across the broader Berachain network.

Currently, Beramonium’s Treasury includes a range of Bera-ecosystem NFTs, which are strategically placed in Rewards Pools for seasonal gameplay. On the mainnet, the goal is to secure a significant BGT stack from the protocol-owned liquidity. This approach will generate rewards in the form of bribes and incentives from various tokens within the ecosystem, such as for example $IRED, $RAMEN, and $YEET.

These tokens will then be creatively repackaged into different reward options available in the Gem Store, including:

  • Small Sack of Coins

  • Medium Sack of Coins

  • Large Sack of Coins

Each sack will contain a random mix of tokens, offering players a fun way to engage with and discover other Bera-ecosystem assets. This setup not only provides direct Play-to-Earn rewards but also introduces players to the broader ecosystem, allowing them to explore assets from other aligned projects within Berachain.

With its established presence on Berachain, Beramonium attracts collaborations from other projects, contributing their NFTs to the rewards pools. This dynamic adds substantial value for players, enhancing gameplay and expanding engagement with the larger ecosystem.

Token Distribution

This careful breakdown ensures that the game remains stable and grows steadily over time.

The circulating supply curve is gradually increasing tokens are released over 192 weeks, balancing the market's need for stability with the gradual introduction of supply. Guaranteeing that the ecosystem will grow sustainably devoid of any inflation shock.

Looking ahead, Beramonium plans to open a public round. The strategy is in line with the project's vision of building an ecosystem of games, first being Beramonium with RPG elements, promising a unique gaming experience that will appeal to both blockchain enthusiasts and gamers.

Token Utility

A critical aspect of Beramonium's strategy is its unique token utility, designed to foster a sustainable, community-driven economy. The token serves as the primary currency for all in-game purchases, with a significant 75% of the revenue generated from these purchases being burned to maintain a deflationary model. This approach ensures the token's value remains robust and appealing to users.

Moreover, the token is integral to the governance of in-game prize pools, empowering players with voting rights that influence game rewards. This democratic approach not only enhances player engagement but also fosters a sense of ownership and participation within the community. Additionally, the token's utility extends beyond the game, being actively used in Berachain's Proof of Liquidity (PoL) framework and various bribing mechanisms, further embedding it within the broader ecosystem.

Beramonium's strategic focus on sustainable tokenomics and strong community involvement, combined with its unique position as the only gaming project live on Berachain, provides it with a competitive edge in a crowded market.

9. Roadmap

In the long term, Beramonium envisions expanding the Gemhunters universe with a single-player, open-world RPG. Although this development remains part of the strategic roadmap for a more distant future, the team has outlined preliminary plans for its eventual realization.

Currently, however, the primary focus is on enhancing the Gemhunters experience as it enters Season 2 on the Bera Mainnet. Key initiatives include the launch of a free-to-play model, designed to lower barriers to entry and enable a broader audience to explore the game. Additionally, Gemhunters will introduce an Account Leveling system, providing players with structured progression and engagement mechanics. Future updates are projected to further enrich gameplay with the integration of PvP and crafting systems, slated for release in 2025. This incremental approach underscores Beramonium’s commitment to refining core gameplay elements while setting the foundation for expansive growth in the Bera ecosystem.

Reaching New Communities

For the next 6 to 12 months, the plan is to reach out to a large number of communities in the gaming space. Beramonium's goal is to be known not just within Berachain but across various ecosystems, which require targeted efforts, strategic partnerships, and relevant content to attract new users who might not be familiar with Berachain yet.

Web2 Integration

Looking 12 to 24 months ahead, the aim is to make Web3 gaming accessible to a wider audience. The team's end goal is to onboard traditional Web2 gamers by offering a gaming experience that feels both familiar and innovative, while providing a feature-rich experience that introduces conventional gamers to the benefits of Web3 without making them feel overwhelmed.

10. Conclusion

As the Web3 gaming market is projected to reach as high as $200 billion by 2030, Beramonium’s unique mix of immersive storytelling and real-world value positions it as a key player in the future of gaming.

A blend of traditional RPG charm with security and interoperability in the form of Web3, while offering an engaging gaming experience. Beramonium goes beyond typical gameplay by giving players real ownership of in-game assets. Meaning that every achievement you work for in the game can have value both in and outside the game.

Backed by a talented team and with a clear roadmap, Beramonium is poised to make a lasting impact on the Web3 RPG genre. The team’s commitment is to not only make a name in the Berachain ecosystem but in the entire Web3 gaming space.
