Has Hawk Tuah Girl been arrested over her memecoin? Fact Check
The internet’s most viral person from 2024-the Hawk Tuah girl- has been on the wrong side of crypto community ever since her memecoin project $HAWK resulted in 90% crash, earning her the infamous tag of a rug puller. 22-year-old Haliey Welch had shot into prominence after her video imitating the sound “Hawk Tuah” had gone viral on social media.
Recently, certain tweets on X had claimed that the viral Hawk Tuah girl “had been arrested on money laundering charges” after her memecoin project tanked, allegedly due to insiders, thereby causing loss to crypto investors.
The viral post on X stated that Hawk Tuah Girl has been arrested and charged with securities fraud, wire fraud, and espionage over her cryptocurrency rug pull scheme. As per the post, prosecutors say investors lost millions and she faces serious federal charges and is currently in custody.
However, the community note on X soon declared the arrest claims to be fake and misleading news to get more engagement on social media and promote their own memecoins.
The Crypto Times also fact checked claims made by the X user and found them to be untrue as Haliey as been facing litigations from crypto investors but there is no news of her being arrested in U.S.
Meanwhile, another post on X says that, despite facing federal charges, Hawk Tuah girl is attempting a comeback with a new cryptocurrency called “Shaquille Oatmeal”, and claimed that the coin will “ revolutionize finance”
However, no official statement or post was found by Hawk girl yet.
After Hawk Tuah girl had launched her memecoin on Solana, it received instant popularity and its market value reached temporary peaks of a staggering $490 Million. The market capitalization of Hawk dropped from its peak level of $490m to rest at $60m within twenty minutes, suffering a massive 90% crash.

Hawk Tuah girl’s X post received a community note which disputes her statement indicating that team members started selling Hawk coins during launch time.
