Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Trutnev said , which is planned to be developed in the Far East mining cryptocurrency , and this could be a profitable solution for the regions.
According to him, the Ministry of Energy has introduced the principle that mining will only be carried out in those areas where there is an excess of electricity. At the same time, it is necessary to create reserves of energy capacity in the regions that can be used to mine cryptocurrencies.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that keeping energy reserves is quite expensive, and if they are used for mining, the authorities will not incur any expenses. He noted that the government will definitely take up this initiative. The program will be implemented in all regions of the Far East at once without pilot projects, as is usually done.
The regions of the Far East, due to their unique geographical location, have the potential to develop renewable energy sources - wind and geothermal. If the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev is implemented, then the Far East can become one of the key centers for the extraction of digital assets.
In addition to the Far East, there are other promising regions for mining - Irkutsk Oblast, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Saratov and Leningrad Oblasts, where some of the largest hydroelectric power plants and nuclear power plants in Russia are located.
