Ethereum.org shifts to Shape Up cycles for agile development, focusing on 6-week build periods with key projects set for completion by February 2025.
Ethereum.org is transitioning its development process to adopt Shape Up cycles, a strategic shift aimed at enhancing productivity and focus. This approach consists of concentrated 6-week build periods followed by 2-week cooldowns, as detailed in a recent blog post by Ethereum.
Core Improvements to Ethereum.org
Under the new cycle system, Ethereum.org aims to deliver several enhancements by the end of February 2025. These include an interactive roadmap designed to elucidate Ethereum's evolution, making it more accessible to newcomers. The roadmap is inspired by Vitalik Buterin's Ethereum roadmap.
Audio features are being introduced to key pages, allowing users to listen to content instead of reading it, and native Web3 functionalities such as wallet connections and direct onboarding to decentralized applications (dapps) are also being integrated.
Other upgrades include a dashboard hub for essential Ethereum tracking tools and community resources, alongside comprehensive content updates to ensure the site’s documentation aligns with Ethereum's rapid advancements. This includes refreshing existing content, introducing new educational resources, and preparing for the Pectra upgrade.
Enhancing User Experience
Translation quality is being enhanced across multiple languages, and the experience for non-English users is being improved through better feedback systems, UI improvements, and content organization changes. Additionally, a migration from Chakra to Shadcn UI components is underway to optimize the user interface.
Ecosystem Projects and Social Engagement
Ethereum.org is also focusing on ecosystem projects, including the launch of ethproofs.org , a platform to track zkVM capabilities. Updates to the launchpad will support MAXEB changes for validators, and a more active engagement on social media platforms is planned to strengthen community ties.
The cycle concludes with a 2-week cooldown, during which Ethereum.org will reflect on the deliverables and strategize for the next cycle. This period will also include updates on the achievements and insights gained from Cycle 1.
