U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters: Trump represents the "worst side of Crypto"
Maxine Waters, the Democratic leader of the US House Financial Services Committee and a California representative, responded to concerns from many cryptocurrency users and legislators who accused Trump of launching Meme coins that harmed legitimate projects in the cryptocurrency industry. In a statement released on January 20th, Waters stated that Official Trump (TRUMP) represented the "worst of crypto" and provided a case for regulators and policymakers to worry about the future of the cryptocurrency industry under the new presidential administration. She stated that investors would "pay the price" after TRUMP insiders sold tokens, which was accused of being a "rugpull." She also stated that "even if buyers are deceived, the terms and conditions of the tokens prohibit them from filing class action lawsuits." She added, "Buyers of this type of cryptocurrency also lack transparency, which is concerning. Through his Meme coins, Trump has created a way to circumvent national security and anti-corruption laws, allowing relevant parties to transfer funds to him and his inner circle anonymously."
