Ethereum Foundation Sells ETH Again: Here Are the Details of the Transaction and the Total Amount of Sales Since Last Year
The Ethereum Foundation, which has been on the agenda with its recent Ethereum sales, made its first ETH sale in 2025.
According to Onchain data, the Foundation, one of the main actors in the development of ETH, sold 100 ETH and in return obtained 329,463 tokens of DAI, a stablecoin.
Recently, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin released a statement about the Foundation’s sales, stating that the sales were made in order to keep the organization operational, pay out grants, and pay developers. Buterin has also been criticized for selling ETH from time to time, but he maintains that these sales are almost never made for personal purposes.
According to the data, the Ethereum Foundation sold 4,466 ETH worth a total of $12.61 million in 2024, with an average price of $2,823. It is noteworthy that the foundation's sales often occur just before sudden drops in the price of the altcoin.
On the other hand, the ETH price is trading at $3,310 at the time of writing this article. The rate of losses in the last 24 hours was measured at 3.15%.
