Google releases new cryptocurrency advertising rules, UK advertisers must be registered with the FCA from 2025
on December 20th, Google released an updated financial product policy, which will implement new cryptocurrency advertising regulations starting from January 15th, 2025. Cryptocurrency exchange and wallet service advertisers targeting the UK market must obtain certification from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and be certified by Google before they can place ads.
The new regulations clearly distinguish between the requirements for software and hardware wallet advertising. Hardware wallet advertising is limited to providing private key storage functions for cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and other assets, and may not include transaction services. Google said it will issue warnings at least 7 days before suspending accounts to ensure compliance with advertising regulations.
