Head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov сообщил about the time frame for the appearance of a universal QR code for transactions with the digital ruble. According to him, by the summer of 2025, the code will be placed literally at every checkout in Russian stores.
The deputy noted that the centralized QR code format is supported by the overwhelming majority of market participants, as well as the Cabinet of Ministers and the Bank of Russia. The use of the QR code will simplify the customer journey and reduce buyers' expenses, the parliamentarian believes.
According to him, extremely low tariffs will be set for paying for purchases using a centralized QR code, although competition still needs to be maintained in the market.
In addition, Anatoly Aksakov stated that for the first time this year, Russia conducted several transactions with digital financial assets with the Republic of Belarus.
He stated that 2025 will definitely be a breakthrough year for this asset class, especially in the international payments segment. Due to digital financial assets, Russian companies will be able to attract more funds for their own development and economic transformation in the context of sanctions restrictions from unfriendly countries, the State Duma deputy pointed out.
