Story Protocol launches new framework for AI agents to trade IP
Story Protocol, an intellectual property blockchain network, has unveiled a new framework that could significantly impact the crypto AI agent ecosystem.
The framework, known as the Agent Transaction Control Protocol for Intellectual Property (ATCP/IP), allows artificial intelligence agents to engage in onchain trades of intellectual property assets such as training data and investment strategies.
In a Dec. 17 post on X, Story introduced the ATCP/IP system, which aims to overcome the current limitations faced by AI agents.
Presently, AI agents are confined to basic transactions like buying tokens or interacting with wallets.
However, these agents are unable to engage in more complex agreements or contracts.
“Currently, AI agents can only perform simple transactions, including buying and selling tokens or interacting with different wallets, but not complex agreements and contracts,” Story explained.
The new protocol intends to address the issue of AI systems using intellectual property without proper compensation or credit.
By implementing a secure system for managing IP, Story’s protocol ensures that AI agents will be compensated for the exchange of data and assets.
“All contracts executed on this protocol are ironclad, legally binding, and enforceable, both on and off-chain,” according to the company.
The ATCP/IP framework will integrate with various major AI agents, including ai16z DAO’s Eliza, Zerebo’s ZerePy, Crossmint’s GOAT, and Virtuals Protocol’s GAME.
An experimental demonstration of the framework is expected on Dec. 18, showcasing AI agents using the protocol for trading.
