The X platform's promotion of political content has attracted attention, and new users are still filled with election-related tweets under the "non-political" interest
PANews reported on October 29th, according to the Wall Street Journal, new users of X platform (formerly Twitter), even if they choose non-political topics such as manual labor, sports and cooking, still receive a large number of tweets related to elections and politics. Many involve content supporting Trump. Experiments show that in the "Recommended for You" page of new accounts, at least half of the tweets contain political content. The frequency of pro-Trump content is about twice that of pro-Harris content.
Although X platform claims that the proportion of political content is limited, its algorithm frequently pushes political posts repeatedly, making it difficult for new users to avoid them. Since Musk took over in 2022, X platform has faced challenges such as advertisers withdrawing and the impact on user experience and business performance due to its recommended strategy.
