OpenAI disbands AGI preparation team
OpenAI is disbanding its "AGI Readiness" team and its members will be reassigned to other teams within OpenAI. The team was previously responsible for evaluating OpenAI's ability to handle increasingly powerful AI technologies and assessing the world's readiness for such technologies. Miles Brundage, the chief advisor of the AGI Readiness team, announced his resignation in a Substack post, citing the high opportunity cost and his belief that his external research could have a greater impact. He also hoped to reduce bias and believed that he had already achieved his goals at OpenAI.
