GameFreak, the developer of Pokemon, has allegedly been hacked. The hack has leaked inside information in regards to future Pokemon announcements. This even includes a codename for Nintendo Switch 2.

According to a report from Nintendo Life , the leaked data includes several key pieces of information. The codename for Nintendo’s next-generation console, reportedly “Ounce,” has been exposed. This reportedly gave fans their first potential glimpse into the company’s plans for a Switch successor.

Leak revealed codename for unannounced Pokemon games

Additionally, the leak revealed the codename “Gaia” for the unannounced 10th generation Pokemon games, as well as “Ikkaku” for the previously announced Pokemon Legends: ZA.

The leak also suggests that the 10th generation Pokemon games, codenamed “K” and “N,” might be developed as cross-generation titles.

This information has led to speculation that these games could be released for both the current Nintendo Switch and its successor.

Another interesting revelation from the leak is the existence of a Pokemon game codenamed “Synapse.” This unannounced title is reportedly in development with a different studio, leading to speculation that it could be a Pokemon MMO.

Source code for Nintendo DS titles compromised

The scope of the leak extends beyond future projects, with the source code for Nintendo DS titles Pokemon HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black 2, and White 2 also reportedly compromised. This has resulted in unused Pokémon assets and game music appearing online.

Interestingly, the leak also mentions a live-action Pokemon series allegedly in development for Netflix. Even though the details are scarce, the series was reportedly scheduled for release this year and would consist of eight episodes in its first season.

This incident draws comparisons to Nintendo’s infamous “gigaleak” of 2020, which was considered the largest leak of internal video game information at the time. The current breach at Game Freak appears to be similarly large in its scope and potential impact on future releases.

As of now, neither Nintendo nor The Pokemon Company have issued official statements regarding the leak.
