Radical investor and well-known short-seller Andrew Left surrendered to authorities in Los Angeles on Monday and plans to face Judge Rozella A. Oliver in a US District Court this afternoon. Left is facing criminal charges filed by the Department of Justice on Thursday and allegations of "deception" strategy by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Living in Florida, Left faces 19 criminal charges and could face imprisonment if convicted. He is known for his contempt for "irrational" theme stocks such as GameStop, and the indictment alleges that he "took trading positions opposite to those he publicly expressed and promoted" and that he "distorted his trading position when appearing on news programs."
