Former FTX Executive Seeks 18 Months Leniency in Court Sentencing for Conspiracy Charges
Ryan Salame, a former top executive of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has requested court leniency of 18 months imprisonment. Salame, who pleaded guilty last year, is facing charges of conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions and operate an unlicensed money-transmitting business. However, Salame and his attorneys are seeking lesser penalties after cooperating with the US government to nail SBF. The fate of other former FTX executives who pleaded guilty remains unknown after SBF was recently sentenced to 25 years in prison. The closure of the FTX case will serve as an example to other cryptocurrency exchanges operating in the market.
