NEAR Protocol Announces Increase in Mainnet Shards from 4 to 6, Further Improving Network Performance
On May 14th, NEAR Protocol announced that the number of shards on its mainnet has increased from 4 to 6, resulting in a 50% increase in the network's transaction processing capacity. It is expected that by the end of Q2 2024, NEAR will also launch stateless validation on the mainnet, which is expected to further increase the throughput of each shard by 5 times.
