Yuga Labs asks court to sanction Ryder Ripps for “malicious destruction” of private keys
According to The Block, Yuga Labs has requested sanctions against Ripps in a US court, claiming that Ripps intentionally destroyed the wallet private key containing RR/BAYC NFTs to "obstruct" the court's injunction.Yuga Labs stated in the filing, "Given Mr. Ripps' malicious destruction of the private key, provision of false statements, and continued misrepresentations to Yuga Labs and the court, the court should exercise its inherent power to sanction Mr. Ripps."In a response filed on Monday, the defendant requested that the court deny Yuga Labs' sanctions request. The filing stated that Ripps' lawyer had contacted Yuga Labs' lawyer and contradicted the company's filing from last week. The filing also claimed that Ripps had fully complied with the October injunction, except for commands related to the wallet he lost access to.In previous news, US District Judge John F. Walter ordered Ryder Ripps and Jeremy Cahen to pay Yuga Labs nearly $9 million in forfeiture profits, fines, legal fees, and other expenses in the RR/BAYC infringement case.
