OP Labs: The Delta network upgrade is scheduled to be activated on February 22, and Span Batches may reduce fixed on-chain overhead by more than 90%
OP Labs announced on social media that the Delta network upgrade governance vote was successfully passed last week. Node operators need to upgrade their nodes before the network upgrade is activated, which is planned to be activated at 0:00 UTC on February 22. One of the highly anticipated features of the Delta upgrade, Span Batches, is expected to reduce over 90% of fixed on-chain expenses for operators running standard convolution OP chains. These reductions, combined with the 4844 cost reduction in a few weeks, will further optimize network efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
