Marathon will pay Hut 8 $13.5 million for operational control of two Bitcoin mines
Marathon Digital has agreed to pay $13.5 million to fully control two recently acquired Bitcoin mining facilities from Hut 8. Hut 8 will stop providing hosting services at these sites on April 30, prior to which the company's monthly contract was valued at $1.2 million and had more than four years left. Marathon plans to take over as the mine operator before April 30, while Hut 8 continues to provide hosting services and conduct self-mining activities. Marathon and Hut 8's subsidiaries agreed to terminate the contract before January 30 and transfer operational responsibilities to Marathon.
