Indian Engineer Loses $15,000 in Telegram Crypto Scam
An engineer from Delhi, India, reportedly lost $15,000 in a digital scam on Telegram. The victim was approached by an unknown sender offering an opportunity to invest in cryptocurrencies, and after investing $120.43 and receiving a return of $180.65, the victim decided to invest an additional $15,000. However, once the sizable investment was made, the con artists ceased contact and refused to return any money. Indian investors are reportedly easy targets for crypto scams due to a lack of digital awareness and regulations. The Indian government has started imposing stricter laws to curb the number of crypto scams, including including digital assets under its watch list and making money laundering provisions applicable to cryptocurrency markets.
