Sotheby's Sells 'BitcoinShrooms' NFTs for a Mighty $450K
Sotheby's has entered the world of Bitcoin Ordinals inscriptions with the sale of three pixelated "BitcoinShrooms" NFTs, created by the anonymous artist "Shroomtoshi". The auction generated $450,000, with the most expensive piece, "BIP39 SEED", selling for $101,600. The success of the auction highlights the growing interest in NFTs and Bitcoin Ordinals inscriptions, despite controversy within the Bitcoin community over their inclusion on the blockchain. The majority of the auction's participants were new bidders, with 148 bids placed in total.
